Early December costs less than the Christmas holidays. A hotel next to the Haram costs more than one a short drive away. You can book any package with a £50 deposit per person and pay the rest monthly, with no interest and no admin fee.

Not included: lunch, dinner and personal spending. Prices are based on indirect flights. Direct flights are available at extra cost.
Some agents leave transfers and ziyarah out of the price and charge for them later. Ours are in the price. Some will not tell you the name of your hotel until you have paid. We tell you the hotel and how far it is from the Haram before you pay anything. What we quote is what you pay.

3 Star December Umrah Packages from £649
Our 3 star packages are the most popular choice for first-time pilgrims and anyone keeping the cost down. In Madinah you stay at hotels such as Al Mokhtara International, Emaar Taiba, Odst Al Madinah, Grand Zowar or Nusk Al Hijra. In Makkah you stay at hotels such as Emaar Elite, Emaar Al Khalil, Emaar Andalusia, Al Massa Badar or Al Kiswah Towers. Some of the Makkah hotels are a short drive or shuttle ride from the Haram rather than a walk, which is why the price is lower. Breakfast is included.
4 Star December Umrah Packages from £665
Most families choose 4 star. For 5 nights it costs only £16 more than 3 star. In Madinah you stay at hotels such as Zowar International, Waqf Othman Bin Affan, Al Ritz Al Madina or Saja Al Madinah. In Makkah you stay at hotels such as Worth Elite, Al Ebaa, Pullman ZamZam or DoubleTree by Hilton Jabal Omar. The rooms are bigger and the hotels are closer to the mosque. Breakfast is included.
5 Star December Umrah Packages from £845
Our 5 star packages are for older pilgrims and anyone who wants the shortest walk to the mosque. In Madinah you stay at hotels such as Emaar Royal, Millennium Taiba, Al Mukhtara International, Maden or Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick, next to Masjid an-Nabawi. In Makkah you stay at hotels such as Anjum, Jabal Omar Marriott, Address Jabal Omar or Pullman ZamZam, which faces the Haram from the Clock Tower building. Breakfast is included and you can ask for a room with a view of the mosque.
Best Dates for Umrah in December 2026
1 to 17 December. The quieter and cheaper half of the month. Rajab 1448 is expected to begin around 10 or 11 December. If you do not need to fit around school, these are the best value dates.
18 December to 4 January. Most schools in England break up on Friday 18 December 2026 and go back on Monday 4 January 2027. Dates in Scotland and Wales are a little different. These are the busiest dates, and the hotels nearest the Haram sell out first.
21 to 27 December. Christmas week is the most popular week with UK families. Flights home around New Year are the most expensive of the month.
How to Book
- Call or WhatsApp us. Tell us your dates, your airport and how many people are travelling.
- Get your price in writing. We reply the same day with your hotel names, how far they are from the Haram and the full price.
- Pay a £50 deposit per person. This holds your place and your price. We send your ATOL certificate the same day.
- Send your documents. Passport, photographs and meningitis vaccine certificate. We apply for your visa.
- Pay the rest monthly. No interest and no admin fee. Before you fly, we go through the steps of Umrah with you and set up your Nusuk app.
There are no booking fees and no card charges. The school holiday dates go first, so if you want Christmas week, it is best to book early.
Be Careful with Very Cheap December Prices
You may see December packages advertised for under £500. A seven-night package in the Christmas holidays has to pay for flights in the busiest week of the winter, seven nights in two hotels, a visa and transfers. That cannot be done for that price. Either the price goes up when you call, or the hotel is a long way from the Haram, or something has been left out. Before you book with anyone, ask three questions. Which hotel is it? How far is it from the Haram? Are transfers and ziyarah included? Then check their ATOL number on the Civil Aviation Authority website.
Why Perform Umrah in December 2026?
It falls in Rajab, a sacred month
Rajab 1448 is expected to begin around 10 or 11 December 2026, depending on the moon. It is one of the four sacred months, with Dhul Qi'dah, Dhul Hijjah and Muharram. Allah mentions the four sacred months in Surah at-Tawbah (9:36), and the Prophet ﷺ named Rajab as one of them in his Farewell Sermon, recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari. Rajab is followed by Sha'ban and then Ramadan, so many pilgrims use a December Umrah to start getting ready for Ramadan 1448, which is expected in February 2027.
The weather is mild
December is one of the coolest months in Makkah and Madinah. In summer Makkah goes above 45°C. In December, Tawaf, Sa'i and the walk to the mosque for each prayer are much easier, especially for older people and young children.
Children are off school
For British Muslim families, December is one of the few times in the year when children can do Umrah without missing school. The others are the February half term and Easter.
It is calmer than Ramadan
December is busy, but nothing like Ramadan. You can usually pray closer to the Kaaba, do Tawaf without being pushed along by the crowd, and sit in the Haram for as long as you like between prayers. The Prophet ﷺ said that one Umrah to the next wipes out the sins between them. This is reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

Rain is rare but possible, so a small folding umbrella is useful. The open courtyard at Masjid an-Nabawi feels colder at night than the temperature suggests. Men should pack a plain unstitched shawl to wear over Ihram on the walk to Fajr.
Umrah Visa and Nusuk Rules for December 2026
- Book everything with one licensed agent. Your hotels and transport now have to be confirmed through Nusuk-approved providers before your Umrah visa can be approved. Booking the visa, hotels and transfers in different places can cause delays or a refusal. We arrange all of it together.
- You need an Umrah permit. A visa on its own is not enough. You have to book a permit on the Nusuk app before you do Umrah at Masjid al-Haram. We help you set this up before you fly.
- Rawdah permit. To pray in the Rawdah in Madinah, you need a separate time slot on Nusuk.
- Meningitis ACWY vaccine. You need this at least 10 days before you travel. Keep the certificate with you.
- Passport. Valid for at least six months from the day you arrive in Saudi Arabia.
Rules can change during the season, so we check the latest rules for your dates before you fly.
December Umrah with Children
- Ihram for children. Boys who have not reached puberty can wear Ihram, but they do not have to. Girls wear their normal modest clothes.
- Stay together. Agree a meeting point before you go into the Haram, such as a gate number. Put a card with your hotel name and phone number in each child's pocket.
- Evenings get cold. Take a light blanket or an extra layer for younger children, especially after Isha.
- Rooms. We book connecting or side-by-side rooms where the hotel allows it. Children and infants pay less.
- Take your time. Rest after you land, then do your Umrah at Fajr, when it is cooler and quieter.
December Umrah for Elderly Pilgrims
- Pay for distance, not stars. If walking is hard, a hotel close to the Haram matters more than a bigger room. Our 5 star packages at Pullman ZamZam and Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick are the closest.
- Ask for a direct flight. A direct flight from London takes around six and a half hours.
- Wheelchairs are available for Tawaf and Sa'i. Tell us when you book and we will help you arrange one.
- Medicines. Keep your medicine in its original box with a copy of the prescription.
- Keep warm in Madinah. Take a proper warm layer, especially if you have a chest problem.
December, Ramadan or Easter?
Ramadan has the greatest reward, but also the biggest crowds and the highest prices. Ramadan 1448 is expected in February and March 2027. See our Ramadan Umrah packages.
